About Us

CarJeevan is a website for car owners in India who want to understand their cars, and the bills that come with them, a little better.

Most of us are not mechanics. When a garage says “the discs need changing” and hands over a quotation full of unfamiliar lines, it is hard to know what is reasonable and what to question. We started CarJeevan to make that moment less stressful.

We publish practical guides on car maintenance and ownership, and we offer a free online tool: the Car Repair Estimate Calculator & Garage Quote Comparator.

What You Will Find on CarJeevan

  • Plain-English guides on topics such as how to read a service invoice, what a repair estimate should include, OEM versus aftermarket parts, and why a final bill can differ from the estimate.
  • Practical checklists and templates you can use at the garage, including a printable sample estimate.
  • A free calculator that helps you check and compare repair quotations.

Why We Built the Calculator

Repair quotations can be hard to read. Parts, labour, discounts, taxes and extra fees often appear in different formats from different garages, which makes two quotes difficult to compare fairly.

The Calculator lets you enter each item, quantity and charge, totals everything clearly, and sets two garage quotations side by side so you can see where they differ and ask better questions.

How It Can Help You

  • Check that the arithmetic on a quotation adds up.
  • See how parts, labour, discounts and taxes contribute to each total.
  • Compare two quotations line by line before you decide.
  • Prepare specific questions to ask your garage.

What the Calculator Does Not Do

We want to be clear about its limits. The Calculator does not use a verified, live database of repair prices. It cannot tell you whether a garage is overcharging, inspect your car, diagnose a fault, or guarantee that an estimate is accurate. Its results are only as good as the information you enter.

Please verify repair decisions, especially safety-critical work such as brakes, steering and tyres, with a qualified mechanic or authorised service centre. Our Disclaimer explains this in more detail.

Our Editorial Approach

We want our guides to be useful and trustworthy, so we follow a few simple principles:

  • Written for real decisions. Every guide is built around a situation car owners actually face, not around filler content.
  • Original content. We write our own explanations, examples and templates. Sample prices and bills in our articles are illustrative and are labelled as such.
  • Tax and rule checks. Where we mention rules that can change, such as GST rates on car parts and labour, we check current official or reliable sources before publishing.
  • Independent of garages and brands. We do not accept payment from garages, parts makers or carmakers to favour them in our guides or in the Calculator’s results.
  • Corrections. If you spot a mistake, tell us. We will review it and update the page, and we aim to correct genuine errors promptly.
  • Not professional advice. Our content is general information. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified mechanic, or for legal or financial advice.

Our Commitment

  • Clarity: plain English, without unnecessary jargon.
  • Usefulness: guides and tools aimed at real decisions car owners face.
  • Accuracy: we aim to keep information correct and will fix mistakes when they are reported.
  • Transparency: we state what our tools can and cannot do.
